Application Open for KCGIP LAUNCH Program

Piloted last year, the Knight Campus Graduate Internship Program is accepting applications for this year’s LAUNCH program. LAUNCH is an immersive experience for students from historically marginalized, ethnic-minority populations* who are interested in pursuing an advanced degree in bioinformatics and genomics. Students accepted into the program will:

    •    Receive round trip travel to and from Eugene, Oregon, along with private accommodations near the UO campus
    •    Receive guidance on the graduate school application process
    •    Connect with current students & faculty
    •    Tour campus & department facilities
    •    Network with like-minded peers
    •    Explore Eugene and the Oregon coast

Applicants for Launch must be juniors, seniors, or professionals that would be able to apply to our graduate program in:
    •    February 15, 2024 for admission in Summer 2024
    •    February 15, 2025 for admission in Summer 2025

*Historically marginalized, ethnic-minorities in STEM are typically defined as Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, American Indian or Alaska Native, Native Hawaiians, and other Pacific Islanders. We are also open to students that don't meet this official definition but feel they are from an underrepresented ethnic-minority group in STEM (e.g., Vietnamese, Filipino, Cambodian).

International applicants are invited to apply to Launch, though you must already be at a US undergraduate institution or be in the US without the need to secure a visa between now and the event. We are only able to provide domestic flights for participants.  Selected participants will be provided domestic transportation, lodging, event meals, computer access for workshop, and access to agenda-related activities.
