The KCGIP LAUNCH Program is an immersive experience for students from historically marginalized, ethnic minority populations* interested in pursuing an advanced degree in bioinformatics and genomics. Students accepted into the program will:

•    Receive round-trip travel to Eugene, Oregon, along with private accommodations
•    Get guidance on the graduate school application process
•    Connect with current students and faculty
•    Attend the Genomics in Action Conference
•    Tour the main UO campus, Knight Campus, and department facilities
•    Network with like-minded peers
•    Explore Eugene

Applicants for LAUNCH must be juniors, seniors, or professionals planning to apply to the Bioinformatics and Genomics cohort starting in Summer 2025 or Summer 2026.

*Historically marginalized ethnic minorities in STEM typically include Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, American Indian or Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and other Pacific Islanders. We also welcome students who do not meet this official definition but feel they are from an underrepresented ethnic minority group in STEM (e.g., Vietnamese, Filipino, Cambodian). International applicants are invited to apply, but you must already be at a U.S. undergraduate institution or be in the U.S. without needing to secure a visa between now and the event. We are only able to provide domestic flights for participants. Selected participants will be provided with domestic transportation, lodging, event meals, and access to agenda-related activities.
