Exploring Careers in Microelectronics Workshop Answers Questions –
April event a unique opportunity for students to ask questions of industry representatives.

The Master's program and the Pacific Northwest chapter of SEMI hosted a free workshop in the Lokey Laboratories on the UO campus Thursday, April 20th. Close to 80 undergrads, graduate students and postdocs attended to learn more about the future of high tech and the application and interview process. A panel of industry professionals answered questions about their experiences working in the microelectronics sector.

Paul Kirby, director of marketing for Thermo Fisher Scientific, emceed the event and set the stage. Intel's Anne Hao provided a glimpse into the tech giant's reach and career opportunites in her talk, followed by Denise Macrigeanis, Sr. Director of HR at Lam Research, and Emily Clark, HR administrator at Mega Fluid Systems - who fielded questions on the application and interview process.

The session wrapped up with a panel session of industry representatives (see below), responding to questions on their experiences in industry.

Attendees also had the opportunity to network during breaks and over an informal lunch in the Lewis Integrated Sciences Building.
